The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for FREE access. ************************************************************************************************************** The Cairo Messenger, June 26, 1964 Mr. Benjamin Cecil Wadsworth, 56, died suddenly last Sunday night after becoming suddenly ill while teaching a training union class at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was rushed immediately to the Grady General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove Church on Tuesday, June 23, with the pastor, Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating assisted by Rev. Hugh Lee Brinkley. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Nephews, Leslie Barrett, Ronald Barrett, Ray Barrett, Haskell White, Dexter Edenfield, Vernon Hudson. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Neal Barrett, Napoleon Butler, Royce Prince, Ed Oates, Buryl Oates, Leonard Thompson. Mr. Wadsworth was born in this county on March 18, 1908, son of the late Robert M. and Mary Johnson Wadsworth. He was married to Miss Lillian Maude Barrett on December 17, 1932. He had lived all his life in this county and was a carpenter by profession, and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and was very active in the work of his church having served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher and chairman of the Board of Deacons. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cecil Wadsworth, Cairo; 3 bros.: Dee Wadsworth, Cairo; John Wadsworth, Cairo; Jim Wadsworth, Clearwater, Fla.; 2 sisters: Mrs. Ollie Hudson, Cairo; Mrs. Jewell Edenfield, Cairo and a host of nieces and nephews. Clark Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
