L. Andrews who reside near Reno was burned to death last Tuesday afternoon. His death was a very sad one, especially so, as he was the only son of his parents had out of a family of five children. The cause of the fire which caused his death was a very peculiar one and it is doubtful if such an accident ever occurred before. The little fellow was helping grind cane at the sugar mill of his grandfather, Mr. J. T. Andrews, when he was burned. The mill was being run by a gasoline engine and, as usual with gas engines, something got wrong with it and Tom Baggett, who was running the mill, went to the engine and took off the magneto. He cleaned the magneto with gasoline and when he had practically completed his task, it snapped, the gas catching fire. Baggett, in order to avoid burning himself and setting the mill house afire, threw it out the door sill, splashing the burning flames on the little fellow's back. Seeing that he was afire and becoming frightened, he ran out into the field with those around the mill in pursuit calling to him to stop. When those in pursuit caught up with him and put out the fire, he was so badly burned, that it was readily seen that he could not survive, but he was carried to the house and Dr. Reynolds of Reno was summonsed. The accident happened about four o'clock and the little fellow lingered until six o'clock, when he passed away. The remains were laid to rest at Pisgah Cemetery in Decatur County Wednesday afternoon, the last sad rites being conducted by Rev. Moneyham. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad affliction.
