He had been afflicted for several years with heart trouble, for the last few months was confined to his home. Mr. Bryan was born December the 7th, 1842 in North Carolina. In his youth he left there and came to what was then Thomas county, Georgia, now Grady and spent the remainder of his life in this county. After coming here he was married to Miss Donie Walker. For 42 years he was a member of the Methodist church. He died in his 78th year. At one time, Mr. Bryan was a commissioner of Thomas county. He was a charter member of the Cairo Masonic lodge. His long life was well spent. When he was physically able, he was always found in his place at the church. Although his life was not ostentatious, he believed and followed the teachings of the Master in his silent way. His children and grandchildren have a rich heritage, they may rise up and call him blessed. The funeral services were held at Bold Springs Tuesday afternoon about five o'clock. Rev. T. E. Davenport was in charge of the service. The Masonic lodge had charge of the burial service. He leaves a widow, three sons: Capt. L. A. Bryan of Washington, D. C., A. G. Bryan of this county, and C. L. Bryan of Beaumont, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. H. A. Maxwell of this city, Mrs. K. M. Miller of Nashville, Ga., and Mrs. J. F. Montgomery of Cairo besides a number of grand children, relatives and friends.
