Bell, one of the county's most prominent citizens, passed away at his home south of Cairo, last Saturday afternoon about five o'clock. Mr. Bell was born in Decatur County near Climax, February 17th, 1859, being in his sixty-second year at the time of his death. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Bell. When a young man, Mr. Bell was engaged in the mercantile business for seven years with Wight & Pewell at White Springs, Fla. On February 23, 1894, he was married to Miss Alice Herring, they residing in Climax until 1912, when they moved near Cairo and engaged in farming. He had been a member of the Methodist Church since early childhood, and had a deep, religious experience. Mr. Bell was naturally of a retiring disposition and did not push himself forward, but in his walk of life, he exhibited the fruits of the spirit. He suffered great physical pain, but in the midst of his suffering, he possessed a patient and joyous spirit, knowing all the while that he was nearing the shores of the eternal world and mentioned the fact to friends and loved ones almost daily. The last sad rites were held at Cedar Grove Cemetery last Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. T. E. Davenport, assisted by Rev. W. C. Jones and Rev. J. B. Wight, conducting the services. The remains were laid to rest there by the side of his parents and one little daughter who had preceded him to the grave. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Emory and Elma, five daughters, Mrs. R. B. Bell, Misses Leta and Kathryn and little Margaret and Frances; four sisters, Mr. J. W. Jeter, Mrs. J. C. Evans, Mrs. W. H. Jeter, and Mrs. A. N. Hesters, all of Climax, and one brother, Mr. Norman Bell, of Quincy, Fla.
