L. Cannon Died at Columbia, S. C. News was received here several days ago that Mr. W. L. Cannon, of Columbia, S. C., brother of Messrs. H. G., C. E., and J. W. Cannon of Cairo, and at one time a resident of this County, died in Columbia on Wednesday, January 21st. Mr. H. G. Cannon attended the funeral. The account from the Columbia State, as follows: W. L. Cannon of Columbia, cashier of the C. C. Pearce Company, died at 7 o'clock at the Baptist Hospital, following a stroke of paralysis last Friday. He was 51 years old and is survived by relatives who live at Blythewood, Mrs. Cannon and eight children surviving. McElvey Cannon and Edgar Cannon of Columbia are two sons of the deceased. Mr. Cannon had been with the Pearce Company for 15 years and is considered one of the best credit men of the country. He was a half brother of C. C. Pearce of Columbia. The funeral services will be at 11 o'clock Thursday at the Blythewood Baptist Church. Mr. Cannon has a large plantation at Blythewood.
