A single barrel shot gun caused the tragedy. It appears that the larger brother had been out hunting early Friday morning and when he came in about eight o'clock he stood his gun against the table to go to the fire and warm. The seven year old child and the baby were in the room and the older one took the gun and began tampering with it. The older brother, it is understood, stated that the gun was not loaded, but hardly before they had time to realize it, the seven year old child had accidentally discharged the gun, the load inflicting wounds on the baby from which he died almost instantly. The funeral services were held from Pine Level Church at ten o'clock Saturday morning.
