Mrs. Margaret E. Dees Passed Away Monday

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Dees died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Ed Farnell 
here at 7:00 o'clcok Monday morning May 17th.

She had been in ill health for two months previous to her death, but had been 
confined to her bed for only about ten days.  Diabetes was the cause of her 
death.

Before her marriage, she was Margaret Elizabeth Arline.  She was born in Grady 
county, May 2, 1859 and has spent her entire life, with the exception of one 
year, in Grady and Thomas counties.  On Jan. 3rd, 1886, she was married to Mr. 
J. A. Dees, who was shot and killed on Broad Street in Cairo August 3rd, 1907, 
he being at the time marshal for the city of Cairo.

When Mrs. Dees was a girl, she gave her heart to God and joined the Tired Creek 
Methodist church and continued a faithful member therein until her death. In 
her daily life were manifest those Christian graces that won for her the 
confidence and esteem of all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at the residence of her niece, Mrs. Farnell, at 
eleven o'clock, Tuesday morning.  Rev. T. E. Davenport officiated.  Her body 
was buried in the local cemetery by the side of her husband.

The only known member of her family who survive her is Mr. R. H. Arline of the 
northern part of Grady County.  She leaves behind four nieces: Mrs. Ed Farnell 
of Cairo; Mrs. E. C. Rigsby of Atlanta; Mrs. Watson Sasser and Miss Verma 
Arline, of Grady county and seven nephews.
