The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for FREE access. ************************************************************************************************************** The Cairo Messenger, December 10, 1937 Mrs. Betsy Gainous Bryant Succumbs At Home Near Reno Mrs. Betsy Gainous Bryant, wife of Mr. J. R. Bryant, one of Grady County's best known farmers, died at their home 3 miles south of Reno about noon last Monday, following an illness of nearly seven weeks. Hope was held at first that she might recover, but her condition later grew steadily worse. She was born in what was then Decatur County on Nov. 3rd, 1869, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gainous. She became the wife of Mr. Bryant in young womanhood and spent practically all of her adult life in the southwestern part of Grady County. She possessed many traits of character that commended themselves to others and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Assembly of God's church. The funeral service as held at Bethel Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. L. L. Stanaland and the South Georgia Funeral Home. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Carl R. Bryant, of this county, and Onis Bryant, of Quincy; four daughters, Mrs. L. R. Maxwell and Mrs. C. T. Williams, Calvary, and Mrs. G. M. Garland and Mrs. C. J. Whitfield, Reno; two sisters, one brother, twenty-one grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
