The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for FREE access. ************************************************************************************************************** The Cairo Messenger, December 23, 1938 Mrs. Cynthia Gainous Passes in 92nd Year Mrs. Cynthia Adeline Gainous, one of Grady County's oldest residents, died at her home in this county at 9:26 o'clock last Friday night in her 92nd year. She was ill only three weeks. Mrs. Gainous was born Miss Cynthia Adeline Pinson ninety-one years ago last Aug. 27th, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Pinson. She spent her entire life in what is now Grady County and had been a member of the Methodist Church since girlhood. As a wife and mother and as a true friend of many people, she was greatly admired. Her husband, G. W. Gainous, died some years ago. Funeral and interment were at the Spring Hill Methodist Church and cemetery, north of Whigham, last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Marvin Vincent, of Whigham, and South Georgia Funeral Home. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Surviving are five sons: W. A. Gainous, Cypreas, Fla., G. G. Gainous, Bainbridge, G. W. Gainous, Jr., S. S. Gainous and J. C. Gainous, Cairo; three daughters, Mrs. Cleve McDowell, Ochlocknee, Mrs. Berry Moss, Green Acre City, Fla., and Mrs. John Griner, Cairo; a brother, H. C. Pinson, Cairo, the county's only living Confederate veteran; a sister, Mrs. Mary Floyd, Bainbridge; thirty-four grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
