W. Gainous Passes Away At Age Of 81. Mr. G. W. Gainous, one of Grady County's oldest and best-known citizens, who passed away at 12:30 o'clock on Thursday of last week, was laid to rest last Friday afternoon. He was 81 years of age. Despite his advanced age, he had enjoyed comparatively good health for some time, but was taken ill on October 4th with a bladder trouble, which caused him to grow worse steadily until the end came. He died in the house 7 miles north of Cairo where he had resided for the past twenty-three years. Mr. Gainous was a member of the Union Springs Methodist Church and was an esteemed citizen. He was married to Miss Cynthia Pinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Pinson, 63 years ago. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and was always active in church work. Funeral and interment were at the Spring Hill Methodist Church and cemetery at 4 o'clock last Friday afternoon. Rev. H. G. Shearhouse, of Whigham, assisted by Rev. F. O. Oates, of Cairo, officiated. The six grandchildren acting as pallbearers were Lester Griner, George Moss, Troy Moss, Carlton McDowell, Russell and Joyce Gainous. Surviving are his widow; eight children, S. S., Willie, J. C. and G. W. Gainous, Mrs. J. I. Griner, Mrs. C. G. McDowell, all of this section, Mrs. C. B. Moss, Green Acre, Fla., and G. G. Gainous, Port St. Joe, Fla. Thirty four grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive.
