M. Perkins Passes At Age Of 37 The entire community was saddened by the passing away of Mrs. L. M. Perkins, on Sunday evening Jan. 29 at her home, 6 miles southwest of Whigham. Her death was a shock to all as she had been ill only a short while, being first taken with influenza; then pneumonia set in. She suffered greatly, but bore her suffering with patience and fortitude, that reflected her firm Christian faith. She was nearly thirty-seven years of age. About two years ago she united with the Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church and was always faithful to her church and to her friends everywhere. She was highly esteemed in the community in which she lived and her many friends throughout the entire county are grieved to learn of her passing. She was a devoted wife and mother. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the funeral, which was held at Trinity Church on Monday afternoon at three o'clock. Funeral services were in charge of her pastor, Elder E. A. D. Sheffield, of Whigham. Interment was in Trinity Cemetery. Surviving are her grief-stricken husband and six children, Ella, Roma, Lloyd, Katherine, Mildred and Melton; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McRae, of Whigham, one brother, Ira McRae, of Whigham, and one sister, Mrs. Vallie Brock, of Vada, besides a host sof other relatives and friends.
