The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for FREE access. ************************************************************************************************************** The Cairo Messenger, January 19, 1951, Sam Jeffroe Horton, 70: Mr. Sam Jeffroe Horton died at his home about 10 miles north of Cairo at 11:50 p.m. Monday, January 15, after an illness of only eleven hours. The funeral service was held at Pine Level Baptist Church at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Clyde N. Bolt in charge. Interment was in Pine Level cemetery. The pallbearers were: Wesley Collins, Tim Womble, Herschel Womble, Edward Burnum, Adolphus Mills, and U. G. Maxwell. The deceased was born in Grady County on September 26, 1880, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Everitt Horton, and spent his life here. He was married to Miss Millie Kirkland on August 6, 1908. Surviving in addition to his widow are four sons, Guy Horton, of Thomasville, Curtis, Leavy and Ben Hill (Pete) Horton, all of Grady County; five daughters, Miss Lois Horton, Mrs. Lee Jenkins, Mrs. G. I. Cook and Mrs. John W. Barnes, of Greenville, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Walter Mills, of Cairo; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by South Georgia Funeral Home
