Mr. Griner was a native of this county, and was born on October 7th, 1873. In his early manhood, he moved to Pelham and made that his home until about three years ago. He came to Cairo and rapidly won a host of friends here by the many admirable qualities which he possessed. Following the death of his first wife, he was married on July 17th, 1915 to Miss Willie A. Cheek, of Thomasville, who survives him. Three sons, Messrs. Russell C. Griner, secretary to Congressman Frank Park, Hubert and Jessie Griner of Cairo and one four months old daughter, Grace, also survive. The funeral services were held from the residence Sunday morning at ten o'clock and interment followed in Pleasant Grove cemetery near Cairo. The Masons officiated at the funeral. The deceased was a member of the Masonic fraternity, having been initiated into the Chapter, Commandery and Shrine. He was also a Woodman, Odd Fellow and Knight of Pythias. He was a Steward in the local Methodist church. HE worked constantly for the interests of Grady county and enjoyed a good patronage as a contractor and builder. He was manager of the Cairo Brick Company and recently organized and had just finished several large contracts in this section. His death was a source of deep sorrow to his many warm friends and this section in general.
