Ferrell was born May 24, 1844, and died November 29, 1912. He lived a strictly pious life but never attached himself to any church. He was afflicted most all of his life and confined to his bed from March last to the time of his death. He was very anxious to become a member of the Cairo Baptist church before his death, and died in full hopes of a resting place with the loved ones gone before. He leaves an afflicted wife, 62 years old and several grown sons and daughters, and grand children to mourn his loss. His body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Long Branch on Dec. 1st, at 3 o'clock p.m. Funeral was conducted by Elder G. T. Hurst.
