Odom Passes Away The many friends of Mrs. Hattie L. Odom are grieved to learn of her death which occurrred last Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. L. Fields in Rebecca, Ga. after a severe illness of several months duration. Mrs. Odom had been in declining health for the past twelve months and had gone on a visit to her daughter, hoping that the change would benefit her, but the ravages of the disease were more than medical skill and loving care could cope with and she succumbed to it. The body was brought to Cairo Wednesday morning, and the funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. L. Wright, assisted by Rev. W. C. Jones and Rev. J. B. Wight. The interment took place at the Cairo cemetery. For many years Mrs. Odom had been a consistent member of the Methodist Church and possessed those deep attitudes of character that give a glow to the Christian influence eminating from her life. And though she has passed from this to a larger sphere, the sweetness of her godly life, lingers still to bless and purify the community in which she lived. She is survived by five children, four brothers and numerous other relatives. The children are Misses Bessie and Mary Odom and Mrs. A. Poulk of Cairo, Mrs. T. L. Fields and Mr. Jeff Odom of Rebecca, Ga. The brothers are Messrs. S. W. Brown of Boston, C. L. and Henry Brown of Macon and T. J. Brown of Edison, Ga. Those acting as pall bearers were Messrs. J. M. and E. J. Poulk, B. W. Mauldin, W. D. Clifford, C. Hancock, P. M. Baggett and A. J. Kidd. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
