Tuesday, December 30, 1980 after a short illness. Mrs. Belcher was 100 years old. Services for Mrs. Belcher were held Friday, January 2, 1981 at 2 p.m. at the Cairo Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Richard Brooks officiating. Interment followed at the Oak City Cemetery, Bainbridge. Serving as active pallbearers were Harry Maxwell, Orris Burroughs, Hubert Knauff, Robert Harrison, Tom Lear and Leland Harrison. Mrs. Belcher, who was a long time resident of Cairo, was born here May 21, 1880. Her husband, Dr. William L. Belcher, who was a former Cairo optometrist, preceded her in death. She was a housewife and a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include one brother, Eustice Swicord, Quitman, Ga., one sister, Mrs. Iaola Williams, Southern Pines, North Carolina and a number of nieces and nephews.
