George T. Hurst Died Last Saturday On last Saturday morning about 4:00 o'clock, Rev. G. T. Hurst died at the home of his son, Mr. G. W. Hurst, from a recent stroke of paralysis of the brain. He had lived to a good old age, having entered his 81st year on December 1st. He had been an active member of the Baptist Church for 40 years, and also a good Mason. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church. Rev. B. D. Ragsdale, pastor, assisted by Rev. W. C. Jones and Rev. W. L. Wright, Pastor of the Methodist Church. The services were conducted with Masonic honors last Sunday at noon when the remains of the deceased were lowered to its last resting place in the Cairo Cemetery. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the last sad rites of this beloved gentleman who had answered the last summons and entered into his reward where his life's companion had preceded him only a few months. The Messenger tenders condolence to the bereaved family and know that all is well -- while the parting gives us pain.
