He had been up town during the afternoon and feeling unwell went home about four o'clock and lay down. His wife who was at home at the time was in the room and heard him gasp for breath several times. She rushed out for help fearing something was seriously wrong. When she returned a short time after, he had died. Dr. Ferguson attended him as soon as possible, but found that he had died before he could get there. He made no post-mortem examination, but was of the opinion that he died of heart failure. Mr. Baggett was a carpenter here and was well known. His friends regret exceedingly to hear of his untimely death. His wife has the sincere sympathy of the people of the city in her loss. The remains were brought to Cairo Wednesday and laid to rest in Long Branch cemetery Thursday morning, Rev. W. C. Jones conducting the funeral services.
