Ward Passes Away Friends throughout Thomas and Grady counties will regret exceedingly to hear of the death last Saturday morning of Mr. Jessie S. Ward, at his home two miles east of Thomasville. He had been seriously ill for some ten days with "grippe" and Friday it became apparent that he was in a precarious condition. He died at 5 o'clock Saturday morning. Mr. Ward was in his seventy-ninth year, and was born in Dooly county, Georgia, moving to Thomas county in 1881, locating near Ochlocknee, and in 1896 moved from that place to Thomasville, where he has since lived. Three sons, one daughter and his wife survive him. His sons are Messrs. P. H. Ward of this county, W. S. Ward, Summerall, Miss., A. A. Ward of Thomasville, and his daughter, Mrs. N. B. Brady lives near Cairo. The funeral services occurred Sunday afternoon at two p.m. at Bold Springs church, 9 miles east of town. Rev. H. B. Stubbs of Ochlocknee and Rev. R. G. Jackson of Thomasville conducting the services. Mr. Ward had been a member of Rev. Jackson's church for a good many years. Mr. Ward was a veteran of the Sixties, serving in the struggle for four years. Since moving to this section he has lived a quiet, peaceful, but useful life and his acts have ever been thoughtful, kind and considerate of his fellow man.
