J. McKown, will be pained to learn that she passed away at her home near Pelham last Friday morning, March 9th, between the hours of 6 and 7 o'clock. Her death came very unexpectedly, and while attending to her customary household duties. After preparing breakfast, she went out to the smoke house to get something for dinner, and had started back to the house when she suddenly fell, being caught by her son-in-law, Mr. C. A. Spence, who happened to be standing nearby at the time. Mrs. McKown was born on the 13th of January, 1856, and was 61 years of age at the time of her death. She had been a consistent member of the Missionary Baptist church for the past several years, and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist church prior to her death. She leaves seven sons and five daughters to mourn her death, Mr. E. J. McKown, our faithful County Treasurer being one of her sons; besides several grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends, who will join the Messenger in offering condolence to the bereaved ones in this time of severe trial and may He who doeth all things well, comfort and heal their broken hearts.
