J. Donaldson died last Friday afternoon, June the 4th, in the 76th year of his age, at the home of Mr. B. D. Singletary near Pine Park in Grady county. He had been a devout member of the Bold Springs Methodist church for several years, and it was in the cemetery at this church where he was laid to rest, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. W. J. Hurst. Here it is that he rests beside his wife who had preceded him only a few months. A large concourse of mourning relatives and friends witnessed the last sad rites. While this tabernacle of clay is no more visible to us, his soul rests in the bosom of the Great I Am. Mr. Donaldson's death was truly a sad one. He was stricken with paralysis on the 16th day of March last and remained in a semi-conscious condition until June the 4th, when he passed away. Not only this, but for three weeks or more. The relatives and friends of "Uncle Jasper, as he was lovingly called by almost everyone, may weep at his death, but not as for one who is dead in Christ, but to the world, for he was one who lived his religion and died in the blessed conviction, assured that all was well. He had fought the fight and won the victory. Thus, another Veteran of the Civil War has answered the last roll call, crossed over the river and now rests with the army of redeemed ones in the Great Beyond, where his loved ones were awaiting him.
