It seems to us that when the death angel walked in the garden in the early morning, he plucked for himself the fairest rosebud and after he had dug for himself in our hearts a fountain of tears, He took his fragrant flower away to adorn the Courts of Heaven above. She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Merritt. She was happily married to Mr. E. N. Meloy on Sept. 25th, 1876. As a wife, she was loving, helping and true, as a mother, I have never known a more devoted one. She was converted and joined the church as Mizpah on July 1st, 1885, and was received in by Rev. W. M. Hollingsworth, who conducted the funeral services. Besides a host of friends and relatives, Mrs. Meloy leaves a husband, seven boys and three girls; also three brothers, Messrs. J. M. Merritt, F. M. Merritt and W. B. Merritt, all of Grady county to mourn her going away. They say "Aunt Sis" is dead, but she is not, to live in hearts we leave behind us is not to die. Somewhere her pure spirit is serving Him whose she was and whom she served so faithful and loved so devotedly in this world. She has gone to join the Saints of God, yet let us hope that this example of Christian faith and loyalty to God will continue to live in her sons and daughters, who were influenced by her Godly life. Sleep on dear aunt, for long has been your task of duty. But oh! if we could hear once more your hushed voice; if only you would speak to us again, even then this sadness, the cloud of gloom that is steeped about us because of our loneliness might vanish and our aching hearts leap once more for joy. While loving hands were covering her grave with flowers, birds were singing their first notes of approaching spring from the realms of eternal spring. We seemed to hear her triumphant spirit singing. "Thanks unto God who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." She has fought bravely and devotedly the battle of life.
