Mr. John L. Swoard Passes To Great Beyond

Mr. John L. Swoard is no more.  His soul passed to the great beyond at his home 
in this city at 10:40 o'clock Wednesday morning after an illness of just about 
six months.  Mr. Swoard had been a sufferer of that terrible disease, cancer of 
the stomach, which was the immediate cause of his death.  He was conscious up 
until the last and realized all the time that the end was near, and said that 
he was ready to meet his Savior.   Mr. Swoard was 38 years of age and is 
survived by his wife, three sons, two daughters and numerous relatives and 
friends.

The funeral services were held at Long Branch church Wednesday afternoon at 
five o'clock, being attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and 
friends.  The remains were laid to rest in the Long Branch cemetery, the 
funeral services being conducted by Rev. J. W. Cannon.  The Messenger extends 
condolence to the bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow.
