A. Maxwell Passed Away Last Tuesday Mrs. Maxwell, wife of Mr. Mose A. Maxwell, passed away at her home south of town last Tuesday morning at six-thirty o'clock. Mrs. Maxwell had only been ill for about three weeks and had been confined to her bed for just one week when the end came. She was 68 years old September 28th last and had been a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist Church for a good number of years. The remains were laid to rest in the Cairo cemetery last Wednesday morning at 10:30, the funeral services being conducted by her pastor, Elder Wm. Hollingsworth of Whigham, assisted by Rev. W. C. Jones of Cairo. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the last sad rites. Mrs. Maxwell was a Christian woman, and was liked and loved by all who knew her and her many charitable deeds were known to many. In her passing away, a good woman has gone to her reward. She had been married for 51 years. Mrs. Maxwell is survived by, besides her husband, three brothers, Messrs. Louis F. Butler of this city, Hibe Butler of Calvary and George Butler of Florida. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. M. J. Platt of Thomasville and Mrs. Louisa Chester of Gadsden, Ala., besides numerous relatives and friends.
