P. Smith Laid To Rest The remains of Elijah P. Smith, who died at Fort Bliss, Texas Tuesday a week ago, arrived in this city last Monday morning. The remains were shipped from Fort Bliss last Thursday, the 14th and were on the road five days. His father, Mr. W. L. Smith, has not received any word from the government authorities as to how long the young man was sick, except that his death was caused from pneumonia. The remains were laid to rest last Tuesday morning at Mt. Zion cemetery, six miles north of Pelham. The funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion Church, Rev. H. N. Burnett performing the last sad rites. The deceased was a member of the Pine Forest Baptist church and is survived by his father and step mother and five brothers and six sisters.
