Francis had been sick for three weeks and was carried to Dr. Walker's Sanitarium Thursday, February 1st and operated upon Friday morning. He seemed to rally from the operation, and it was thought he was getting on nicely, but after two or three days he began to grow worse and the end came last Saturday at 12:25 p.m. The cause of his death was due to appendicitis. Everything that medical aid and loving hands could do was done for Francis but without avail. The deceased was 15 years of age of the 22nd day of last September and was a consistent member of the Cairo Methodist Church. It can truthfully be said of Francis that he was a sterling youth and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. The funeral services were held Sunday morning at eleven o'clock conducted by Rev. J. T. Ryder, assisted by Rev. Walter C. Jones and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. Interment followed in the Cairo cemetery. The pall bearers were members of his Sunday School class of which he was a faithful member. The floral offerings were many and showed the high esteem in which Francis was held. The Messenger joins the many relatives and friends in extending condolence to the bereaved ones in the hour of sorrow and affliction.
