The body arrived on the afternoon train at five o'clock and was carried to the cemetery, where the funeral was conducted by Dr. J. A. Wynne, pastor of the Baptist church. A large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the fuenral of this good lady. Miss Matthews was 83 years of age. She was carried to Milledgeville several months ago, after she was taken ill with paralysis, which was the direct cause of her death. The deceased is survived by one brother, Mr. J. C. Matthews, of this city, besides numerous relatives and friends. The Messenger extends condolence to the bereaved ones in their sad hour of affliction.
