F. Thomason Passed Away Last Friday In the death of Mr. E. F. Thomason, Grady loses one of its most highly respected citizens, and the news of his demise is a shock to his many friends throughout the county. He passed away last Friday morning at 11:25 at his home about seven miles east of Cairo, near Pine Park, after an illness of several months duration. Mr. Thomason had been a sufferer of tuberculosis for the past several years but up until a few months ago was able to look after his duties on his farm. Mr. Thomason, was, up until two years ago, foreman of the large plantation of the Wilder Manufacturing Company, five miles north of town, and resigned this position to look after his farm near Pine Park, and also try to regain his health, which was, no doubt, brought on by hard work and exposure to all kinds of weather. Last winter after moving to his farm he went to North Georgia in search of health, but owing to the cold weather, was forced to return home. "Ed" as he was known by his hundreds of friends was a man who was liked by everyone with whom he came in contact, and did not know what an enemy was. He was one of the county's most substantial farmers and was always ready to give any farmer a helping hand when they called upon him. Mr. Thomason was about 40 years of age and is survived by his wife, five sons, one daughter, besides his father, W. C. Thomason, of this county; four brothers, Messrs. J. D., W. C., Jr., and C. M. Thomason, of Grady County and M. B. Thomason of Council Bluff, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. B. C. Woolfolk of Pearce, Fla., Mrs. S. A. Dixon and Mrs. T. J. Braswell, both of Meigs. He was a consistent member of Pearce Chapel Methodist Church and was also a member of the local Camp, W.O.W. The funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church in this city at four o'clock. The last sad rites were conducted by Rev. Walter C. Jones of Cairo and Rev. H. P. Stubbs of Ochlocknee. The funeral was attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends, and was one of the most largely attended funerals ever held in this city, which showed the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment followed in the Cairo cemetery. The Messenger extends condolence to the bereaved ones in their hours of sad affliction.
