His son, Mr. J. F. Williams is a valued employee of W. H. Robinson of this city, and his many friends sympathize with him in the loss of his father. The Thomasville Times-Enterprise carried the following notice of this gentleman's death in last Monday's issue: Mr. Walter Williams died at his home on Warren avenue Sunday evening at about eight o'clock after an illness lasting over a period of four days. He was stricken with a second attack of paralysis Thursday while working in his garden and was immediately taken home, where medical attention was given him. His attack was very serious and little hope was entertained of his recovery after Friday, when he grew worse. The end came Sunday evening as he was surrounded by his family. Mr. Williams was a citizen of Thomas county who was well known throughout this section, especially in Thomasville, where he has lived for a number of years. He was born in 1850 in Hancock county, Georgia and moved a few years afterward to Thomas county, where he has since lived. He was married in 1876 to Miss Johnnie A. Fondren and his wife and the following children survive him: J. R. Williams of Bay Minette, Ala., J. G. Williams of Cairo, Ga., A. P. Williams of Detroit, Mich., Miss Retta Williams and Mrs. Richard Mitchell of this city. The funeral services were held this afternoon at four o'clock from the residence on Warren avenue, the interment to take place immediately thereafter at Laurel Hill cemetery. Rev. W. M. Harris will officiate and the following gentlemen will act as pall bearers: J. E. Robinson, W. A. Pringle, T. D. Winn, J. S. Montgomery, W. E. Cochran, and George Cochran. Thomasville and Thomas county friends learn with deep sorrow of the death of Mr. Williams. He has been identified with various business interests here for a number of years and was a whole-souled, genial and popular citizen. His life was filled with service for his fellow man and his friendships were warm and steady. Honest endeavor, steady and consistent Christian living and a genuine and high reward for the priinciples of good citizenship and Christian fellowship were the characteristics of his life throughout. He will be missed sorely and to the sorrowing family goes the deep and sincere sympathy of the entire community.
