D. Wimberly Laid To Rest The remains of Mr. J. D. Wimberly, who passed away in Madison, Fla., last Friday, October 26th, was brought to Cairo last Saturday. The funeral services were held Saturday at Tired Creek church, interment following in the cemetery nearby. The services were conducted by Rev. J. P. Swann at 9 a.m. being attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. Mr. Wimberly had been a sufferer for several years with a cancer, which was the immediate cause of his death, and had gone to Madison to a sanitarium in search of health. He had been there for nearly a year. Mr. Wimberly was 56 years of age, the 26th of June and had been a consistent member of the Baptist church for about forty years. Mr. Wimberly was one of the county's best known farmers and was for a number of years, foreman of Mr. W. B. Roddenbery's plantation. His health failing him, he resigned his position, and went to farming for himself, later selling out his plantation and going to Madison, in search of a remedy to regain his health. Mr. Wimberly is survived by eight children, besides numerous relatives and friends. The children are: G. L. Wimberly, L. G. Wimberly, O. J. Wimberly, V. O. Wimberly, Chas. Wimberly, Mrs. W. J. Ragan, Mrs. J. J. Willis and Miss Erie Wimberly. The Messenger extends condolence to the bereaved ones in their sad hour of affliction.
