Braswell Dies At Camp Wheeler Private William Leonard Braswell of Company D, 106th Engineers, stationed at Camp Wheeler near Macon, is no more. This young man passed away last Saturday at the Camp Hospital with pneumonia, having been sick for only a few weeks with this disease. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Braswell, who reside five miles south of Cairo, and was 21 years of age the 15th of last December. The remains were brought to Cairo last Tuesday afternoon on the five o'clock train and carried to the home of his parents, where the funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Hollingsworth, assisted by Rev. J. B. Wight. Interment followed at the Braswell burying ground near Reno. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives attended the last sad rites of this young man. With the passing away of this young man, Grady County loses two of her selectmen who gave their lives in defense of their country, although having never seen actual service in the war, but who were in training at Camp Wheeler preparatory to going to the battle front in France. He left Grady with the first bunch of Selectmen on October 20th and has spent most of his time since leaving Grady at Camp Wheeler. William was a fine young man of strong physique and fine moral character, was well liked by everyone with whom he came in contact, and will be sadly missed. The passing away of this soldier is a sad occurance and the whole county sympathize with his parents in their loss.
