McCrory, one of Grady's selectmen passed away in Cairo last Wednesday morning at one o'clock after an illness of only two weeks. With the death of this young man, three of our selectmen have passed to the great beyond. Mr. McCrory came home from Camp Wheeler to spend Thanksgiving with homefolks and Friday morning he was taken ill and was compelled to go to bed. He had quite a severe cold when he came home and no doubt developed into pneumonia, which was the cause of his death. Everything that could be done for this young soldier was done, but without avail. He was 26 years of age and was a consistent member of the Baptist church, having been a member of Long Branch Church for a good many years. He is survived by his mother, two brothers and three sisters, besides numerous relatives and friends to mourn his sad demise. The funeral services were held Thursday about ten o'clock at the home of his brother, Mr. Walter McCrory. The services were conducted by Dr. J. A. Wynne and Rev. Walter C. Jones, and were attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. Interment followed in the Baggett burial ground two miles south of town. The Messenger extends condolence to the bereaved family in their hour of sadness. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
