C. Davis In the providence of God He has seemed pleasing in His sight to remove from our midst our beloved brother Davis. He leaves a large family to mourn his death. We feel the sad loss of him. We feel our loss is his eternal gain. Brother Davis united himself with the Missionary Baptist in his early manhood and lived with them for about forty years. After which he came dissatisfied and asked a home with the Primitive Baptist and lived with them until death. Brother Davis was a well known citizen of Mitchell County. He was born in February, 1847 and died June 22nd, 1918. He leaves a wife, six sons, and two daughters to mourn his death. Brother Davis was attending the annual meeting at Live Oak Church, Grady County, Saturday. After service he went home with J. W. Mills to spend the night. They were sitting on the front porch about seven o'clock, when Mr. Davis suddenly passed away. By the time the family of Mr. Mills realized there was anything the matter with him, he was dead. The remains were taken to Hopeful cemetery, where the body was laid to rest. The services were conducted by Elder J. W. Gardner of Camilla and Elder J. J. Johnson, of Grady County. Brother Davis was a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist Church and was one of the oldest citizens in the county at the time of his death. He had a good and kind disposition, and was generally loved by everyone who knew him. Written by a friend, J. M.
