Walden On Wednesday night, June 19, 1918 about nine o'clock, Christopher C. Walden departed this life. He was born and reared in the county in which he died. He was married to Miss Melissa Robinson of this county, March 5, 1891. Surviving the deceased are his wife and three children, Messrs. Arthur, Tallie and Miss Rixford Walden, also three brothers and two sisters, Messrs. R. M., A. Z. and N. J. Walden and Mrs. W. M. Barrineau of this county and Mrs. J. W. Asbell, of Trenton, Fla. He lived to see all his children reach the years of accountability, 21 years. They were all at home with him happy and contented until the time of the sad hours of affliction. He was sick only a short while, taken Monday afternoon with a chill; also stroke of paralysis, together with a ruptured blood vessel on the brain. The last sad rites were conducted in the Jones cemetery Thursday afternoon at six o'clock by his pastor Elder Wm. Hollingsworth. A large concourse of friends and relatives attended the services. The deceased was 60 years of age and had been a consistent member of the Tired Creek Primitive Baptist church for a number of years. The family extends to the neighbors and friends who came to them in their trouble of a devoted husband and father and contributed all the generous acts of kindness, words of comfort and sympathy; the many heartfelt thanks. Although such devoted friends cannot erase the sad memories that linger around the vacant chair, it brings to view the brightest side of humanity and throws a light of an unselfish friendship into a sad home and when the time comes when they need similar attention may they receive the same measure of generous aid and tender sympathy, and may Heaven reward each of you for we never can. --Contributed.
