Collins Died In France A telegraph was received by Mr. W. H. Collins, former member of the House of Representatives from this county, late Wednesday afternoon from McCain, the Adjutant General in Washington, announcing the death of his son, Willie H. Collins. The message stated that he died from wounds on the 22nd of July, which he received in action on the firing line in France. He is the first Grady County boy to die fighting for his country in France. The telegram to Mr. Collins is as follows: Washington, D. C., July 31, 1918. Mr. W. H. Collins, Cairo, Ga. Deeply regret to inform you that it is officially reported that Private Willie H. Collins, infantry, died July 22, of wounds received in action. McCain The Adjutant General Young Collins was about 18 years of age and enlisted about 18 months ago in the infantry. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Collins and is survived by four brothers and three sisters, besides numerous relatives and friends. He was a brother of Mrs. P. M. Baggett of this city. The Messenger joins the many friends of the family in extending condolence to them in the loss of their son and brother, who gave his life in the defense of his country.
