He had been sick for about ten days or two weeks with a bilious attack, which was the cause of his death. The funeral was held at his home at three o'clock Monday afternoon, interment following in the family burying grounds about a mile from his home. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the last sad rites. "Uncle Joe," as he was known by his hundreds of friends was a member of the Baptist church and a member of the Masonic Lodge, they helping to conduct the last rites over the deceased brother. Mr. Darsey was a very substantial farmer and was well liked by every one in whom he came in contact, both in a social and business way. At the time of his death he was 81 years of age. He is survived by several sons and daughters, besides numerous relatives and friends. Several from Cairo attended the funeral services.
