A. Tuggle Died In Atlanta The remains of Mr. James A. Tuggle, a prominent Grady County citizen who resided in the Northern portion of the county was brought home from Atlanta Tuesday and laid to rest. Mr. Tuggle had been on a visit to relatives in the Northern part of the state and took sick at the Union Station in Atlanta, and was carried to Grady hospital where he died the following day, July 21st. There were no identification papers on him and was buried without anyone knowing who he was. He was survived by his wife and several children. The Atlanta Constitution carried the following story in its Monday's issue concerning his death: "The body of the unknown man who died at the Grady hospital on July 21, and was buried several days ago, was exhumed Monday and identified as J. A. Tuggle, 62 years old, of Grady County, by his son, W. F. Tuggle, who had started a search for him. The aged man fell in the Terminal station on July 20, supposedly suffering from a stroke of apoplexy, and was carried to the Grady hospital where he died a few hours later without regaining consciousness. There was nothing on his person to indicate who he was and the body was turned over to the undertaking establishment of Harry G. Poole. Tuggle called at the Grady hospital, and when told a man answering the description of his father had died there some time ago, he went to Poole's chapel, where he identified the clothing and personal effects of the old man. According to the undertakers, Tuggle declared his father had been visiting relatives in North Georgia and was on his way home when he fell at the depot. The dead man is survived by his wife and five sons. The body was sent home Monday night for interment." This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
