G. Kolbie Dies At Camilla, Ga. Mrs. E. G. Kolbie, who was a former resident of Cairo, passed away at her home in Camilla last Wednesday a week ago. Her husband, was at one time part owner of The Messenger, and both Mr. and Mrs. Kolbie made many friends during their residence in our little city. The Camilla Enterprise carried the following notice of her death in its last issue: "Mrs. Pearl Kolbie, wife of Mr. E. G. Kolbie, passed away Wednesday night at 10:30 o'clock after an illness of two weeks. For the past several days she had been hovering on the borderland between death and life, and loved ones and friends waited about the bedside anxiously hoping that she would pass the crisis. The announcement of her death caused a general sorrow, for besides having a large connection of relatives, she was beloved by a large number of friends. Funeral services were held form the residence yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock, Rev. H. B. Woodward, pastor of the Baptist Church, conducting the services. Interment was made at Oakview Cemetery. The death of Mrs. Kolbie falls as a crushing blow upon the little home which is left desolate of wife and mother. She leaves besides her husband, three children, Frances, aged eleven years; Charles, aged nine years; and a baby girl two weeks old, who feel her loss deeply. Mrs. Kolbie was about 35 years of age. She was a daughter of the late Mr. F. B. Spence, and grew up in Camilla. Always sweet, gentle and friendly of disposition, she will be remembered lovingly by the friends with whom she grew up. Since childhood she has been a Christian, having joined the Baptist church at an early age and continued in the faith until the last. The deceased is also survived by one sister, Mrs. J. M. Keaton, Jr., of Hopeful community, and two brothers, Dr. D. A. Spence of Pelham and Mr. Ambrose Spence of Faceville."
