R. Conner, a prominent citizen of Live Oak, Fla., dropped dead in front of the post office last Monday morning about 9:30 o'clock. Mr. J. A. Reynolds had just left him a few minutes before. He was noticed to be in a dying condition by R. W. Ponder and L. L. Gainous, who were standing in front of the post office. Mr. Conner was sitting on the steps side of the building when the above named gentleman noticed there was something the matter with him. They immediately called out for a doctor and in a minute or so several were on the scene. They pronounced his death was from heart failure. At the time of his death, Conner was keeping several packages for Reynolds and upon his return was going to spend the day with him. Mr. Conner's people were notified and they came up after the body and carried it back with them Tuesday morning, the funeral services being conducted near Live Oak, Wednesday. Mr. Conner was 55 years of age and is survived by 6 sisters, Mrs. Joel NeSmith, Mrs. Byron Godwin and Mrs. Mary Ferrell, all of Grady County; Mrs. Nancy Howard and Mrs. Rhody Howard of Live Oak, Fla., and Misses Pennie and Evelyn Conner, of Madison, Fla., and two brothers, Messrs. Thomas and Alfred Conner of Madison, Fla. He had several nieces and nephews residing in this county. At the time of his death, Mr. Conner was on a visit to relatives here and was going to return to his home this week. He had also decided to return to Cairo and make this his future home.
