M. Hawthorn Passes To Great Beyond After a long illness, Mrs. L. M. Hawthorne died at her home in this city, last Friday morning about 3 o'clock. She had been in declining health for the past year and had been confined to her bed for eighteen weeks. Bright's disease was the immediate cause of her death. The funeral was held at her residence at 8:45 o'clock Saturday morning, Rev. W. C. Jones, assisted by Rev. J. G. Christian, performing the funeral rites. The interment took place in the Hawthorne cemetery about four miles South of town. She was in her sixty-first year. She was a member of the Methodist church, a regular attendant, up to her illness, upon all the services of the church, and a faithful Christian. Many of the Christian virtues shone brightly in her life. Mrs. Hawthorne was reared in this county and was a resident of Cairo for the past ten years. She was the widow of W. B. Hawthorne. She leaves two brothers, Mr. Joe Stallings of Gretna, Fla., and Mrs. G. W. Stallings, of this county, two sisters, Mrs. S. A. Moss, Grand Ridge, Fla., and Mrs. C. C. Mooring of Panacea, Fla.
