E. Gilmore Passes Away The many friends of Mrs. W. E. Gilmore will be grieved to learn of her sudden death which occurred last night about 7:40 o'clock. She was taken suddenly ill about one o'clock Thursday morning and gradually grew worse, being in an unconscious state most of the day. She was a member of the Cairo Baptist church and was a regular attendant at all services and meetings of the women's church societies. At the time of going to press the funeral arrangements had not bee made. Mrs. Gilmore was about 32 years of age and is survived by, besides her husband, Mr. W. E. Gilmore, one daughter, Gertrude, about ten years of age and one little son, Willie, about seven years old and many relatives and friends. We will give a full write up of this death in the next issue of the Messenger. October 11, 1918 God saw best to take from a Cairo home last Thursday night, October 3rd, a dearly beloved mother, companion and friend, Mrs. Adelaide Emma Gilmore. She was born at Beersheba, Henry County, Georgia, October 22nd, 1884, her parents were Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Bryans. She was married to Mr. W. E. Gilmore in January, 1904. This union was blessed by one daughter, now eleven years of age and one son of seven years. Her husband and children survive her. She also leaves three brothers and six sisters to cherish her memory. Her body was carried to her old home in Henry County Friday, where the funeral and interment took place in Sharon cemetery, Saturday. She was in her thirty-fourth year. She had been a member of the Missionary Baptist church since early childhood and was ever loyal and true to her church, attending it as regularly as her health and circumstances permitted. She was possessed of many admirable traits of character. She was indeed a true Christian mother and leaves an example to her husband and children that they would do well to follow. Mr. Gilmore, with his family moved to Grady County about eight years ago and he has many friends who will sympathize with him during this dark hour, but may the good Lord comfort him and his children with the thought that if they imitate her example they can see her again some day. Mrs. J. H. Jefferies, a life-long friend of the deceased, accompanied the body to its last resting place, Mr. Gilmore and children and Mrs. Jefferies expect to return to Cairo this week.
