W. J. Willie Has Passed Away Judge Wallace J. Willie is no more. He died at his home here Tuesday evening about seven o'clock after a short illness of influenza, followed by pneumonia. He had been sick only eight days. This was a great shock to his wife and daughter and the entire community. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church at eleven o'clock Thursday morning. Rev. J. G. Christian preached the funeral. He was assisted by Rev. H. W. Head, Rev. W. C. Jones, and Rev. J. B. Wight. He was laid to rest in the local cemetery. Judge Willie was 39 years of age and was a native of Monticello, Fla., he and his wife and daughter moved here from Metter, Ga. about 12 years ago and have since made Cairo their home. He was a man of strong intellect and character. A man who occupied positions of leadership. At the time of his death he was Judge of the City Courts of Cairo and Whigham. He was a member of the Methodist church and held the office as a steward for several years. In his busy life he always found time to keep the Sabbath holy and attend worship. Love ruled in his home and smoothed all the rough places, lightening its sorrows and increasing its joys. His widow and one daughter, of sixteen years, besides his mother, five brothers and six sisters, survive him. May God's love and deep spiritual blessing fall on the wife and daughter and comfort their hearts in this sad hour.
