J. W. Arnold Received His Eternal Reward The news of the death of Rev. John Wesley Arnold, which occurred in his home in Buena Vista last Thursday evening about eight o'clock, came as a shock to his relatives and friends here. He had been in ill health for several months, hardening of the arteries being the fatal malady; he was up all day last Thursday though attending to his pastoral duties, and only suffered a few minutes before the death angel claimed him. His body was brought here Friday evening and the funeral services held Saturday morning at the Methodist church, Rev. J. B. Wight leading the service, being assisted by Reverends W. C. Jones, J. W. Seals of Thomasville and J. C. Bailey, of Boston. Interment took place in the local cemetery. Rev. Arnold was in his sixty-third year. He had been an itinerant minister for thirty-three years. He was married to Miss Mellie Powell, of Cairo, in 1876. This union was blessed by six children, five of whom survive both mother and father. They are Mrs. E. J. Poulk, Cairo, Mrs. Grady Carter, Talbotton, Miss Wesley Arnold, Buena Vista, Sergeant W. P. Arnold, with the American Expeditionary Forces in France, Captain R. M. Arnold, Chicago, Ill. Brother Arnold made the Lord a faithful steward and the church had entrusted to him its highest honors. Such a life can not live on in this world to the end of time in the next forever.
