Willis resided near Pine Park, having worked on the farm of Mr. J. T. Drew, before being called in to the service. He was 21 years of age and was a registrant of the 1918 class, having registered last June. He left Cairo for Camp Gordon on August 22nd, and no doubt was sent immediately to France as he died from disease on September 28th. It could not be learned what branch of service he was in, but no doubt was in the Stevedore Regiment. He is said to have been a good worker and a highly respected negro.
