The Cairo Messenger, November 8, 1918
"Gen." R. E. Lee Dies of Heart Failure

"General" R. E. Lee died at his home about sixteen miles south of Cairo last 
Monday afternoon.  He had been an invalid for a number of years, suffering from 
rheumatism, but his death was directly caused form heart failure.  He was about 
65 years of age.

The funeral was held at eleven o'clock Tuesday morning at Pleasant Hill 
cemetery.  Rev. J. G. Christian of the Cairo Methodist church, conducted the 
funeral.  Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
