Prior Lewis, an old citizen of our county, 79 years of age, died a victim of Influenza and pneumonia at his home, about six miles south of Cairo last Monday night. He was sick only one week, at the time he was taken ill, he had just returned from a visit to his daughter in Meigs. The family thought he contracted the disease during his visit. He has been a resident of Grady county since boyhood and has set a noble example for our younger generation to follow. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hollingsworth at the Lewis cemetery at Popular Springs Church Tuesday afternoon. To survive him, he leaves four sons, Messrs. Wm. Lewis, I. D. Lewis, J. H. P. Lewis of Grady county, R. G. Lewis of Thomasville and three daughters: Mesdames J. A. Atkinson of Tallahassee, Fla., Tom Davis of Meigs, W. F. Key of Miami, Fla. besides a large number of grandchildren and other near relatives.
