Mr. Prior Lewis departed this the second of December. He was seventy-nine years, five months and twenty three days old when he left us. He was a faithful companion and father. He had all his long career been a good provider for his family. After serving in the war in the 60's, he was very successful in farming with the aid of his faithful companion they gave each of their eight children a good home, respectively, W. C. and J. H., P., R. G., R. T. and J. D. are the sons, Mrs. S. P. Key, Mrs. E. F. Atkinson and Mrs. Josie M. Davis are the daughters surviving him. He had been industrious all his long life. He had never joined the church, but he was a believer in the Primitive Baptist faith. He never felt worth to belong to a church. The writer of this little sketch thinks one who feels their unfitness is the very best evidence of one's fitness, but he never could persuade the deceased sufficiently to get him to join, notwithstanding him to believe the Doctrine of Salvation by Grace, A Friend.
