Poulk Passes Away Last Saturday The whole of Cairo and Grady County was saddened last Saturday to learn of the death of one of its oldest and most prominent citizens. Mr. John L. Poulk died at his home here Saturday shortly after noon, following a short illness of influenza and pneumonia. He had been in declining health for some time and when attacked by influenza, he could not withstand it. Mr. Poulk was seventy years of age last Aug. 9th. He had been in business independently in Cairo for nearly thirty years. He was engaged in business here several years before the opening up of the store that he owned at the time of his death. He was at one time a member of the City Council and clerk and treasurer. He had always been an upright and honorable citizen and in his death this section is at loss. Mr. Poulk was of one of the oldest families of the state and had lived in this section since childhood. He had been a member of the Baptist church nearly all of his life. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. The deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. Kate Johnson, two brothers, M. M. and H. J. Poulk, his widow and one son, Mr. Carl Poulk, all of Cairo. Funeral services were held at the Cairo cemetery at three o'clock Sunday afternoon conducted by Dr. J. A. Wynne, of the local Baptist Church and Rev. T. A. White of Thomasville, a life-long friend of the deceased. The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: Robert Roddenbery of Moultrie, B. M. Johnson, O. T. Davis, M. L. Ledford, G. P. Poulk and W.
