M. Duggar in west Grady Sunday night, January 19, as the spirit of Thelma took its flight into the Great Beyond. When she was told that she had she told us that she hated to leave her family, but she knew it was better so. She bade all good-bye and asked them to meet her in Heaven. I will never forget the look of rapture on her face as she seemed to near the Valley of the Shadow of Death and she exclaimed: "Why it isn't hard! It isn't hard to die." As she appeared to near the Pearly Gates she would hold out her hands as if to loved ones and say, "Isn't it beautiful?" and "Isn't everybody so pretty and sweet?" She entreated all of us to meet her in Heaven and to tell all her friends to be there. So, dear boys and girls, and those older too, who loved this dear one, strive to emulate her example of a true Christian life and death will have no terrors for you. It was indeed a benediction to watch the spirit of Thelma to right up to the Pearly Gates and how I wish all her wayward friends could have been there and heard her tell us of the Great Beyond. I feel sure they would try to live better and I for one intend to live so as to see her again. I would not say, "weep not, loved ones," for tears are such a relief to saddened hearts, but no one who knew Thelma could mourn for her as for one that is lost. It is indeed sad to give her up just as she was budding into young woman hood, but God makes no mistakes and I feel sure she has but just gone before to lead the way for others. Her spirit took its flight just at four o'clock on the morning of the 20th, and we laid her to rest in God's Acre at Spring Hill that afternoon. Sleep on, dear Thelma and keep beckoning to the loved ones here till they will wish to join you up there. One who loved her.
