Vick, however, claims that she killed herself. The killing occurred in the cook room of the negro cabin just after Vick had returned home from his day's labors and while their children were out in the yard playing. Vick claims that his wife had gone to the kitchen to prepare their supper and the first thing he knew of his wife being shot was when he heard the report of a pistol. He further says that he went into the kitchen and picked up the body of his wife and placed her up on the bed, then went after aid. Two shots were fired, yet the pistol has not been found. After picking up the body of his wife, he went and told the children that their mother had killed herself. However, in the meantime, a negro girl was passing by and went and gave the alarm of the shooting and no doubt, will tell her story of the killing to the March Grand Jury which meets next week. Sheriff Perkins was notified of the killing Friday morning and went to the scene of the killing and placed Vick under arrest. He was given a commitment hearing before Judge C. F. Rehberg who bound him over to the Grand Jury on the charge of murder. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
